WHAT IS NATURAL?
  • NATURAL: Any substance that is harvested from nature and then isolated and purified by a variety of environmentally sound techniques including: filtration, fermentation, distillation, expressing and other like processes.
  • Natural cosmetics serve to beautify and care for the human body by starting with natural raw materials that are extracted using the above means, then processed into ingredients that are friendly to both the skin and the environment.
  • Natural cosmetics should stimulate and support our natural skin functions – not create unhealthy dependence or disturbance which can lead to imbalances in skin behavior.
  • Natural cosmetics contain optimal amounts of bioactive ingredients that are an integral and very important aid to the health of the skin at any age.
  • Natural cosmetics are powerful and effective tools in the fight against all skin concerns. Anti-oxidants, vitamins, minerals, essential fatty acids, oils (from seeds & nuts), fruit and vegetables, are all a rich source of nature’s most potent phytonutrients
  • The skin recognizes natural ingredients and is able to assimilate them effectively, producing maximum skin benefits.
  • Natural is not a fringe concept … natural is YOU.
  • CERTIFIED NATURAL: The makers of the products marked with the "Certified Natural Cosmetics" seal use natural raw material such as plant oils, fats and waxes, herbal extracts and essential oils and aromatic materials from controlled biological cultivation or controlled biological wild collection. In addition to the careful selection of raw materials, the ecological impact of each product plays an important role. There is no genetic modification.
  • Natural Certification Bodies: BDIH, NPA

WHAT IS ORGANIC?
To understand ORGANIC, you have to understand NATURAL:

  • NATURAL: Any substance that is harvested from nature and then isolated and purified by a variety of environmentally sound techniques including: filtration, fermentation, distillation, expressing and other like processes.
  • ORGANIC: Beyond & including Natural. Simply stated, this refers to ingredients that are grown without the use of pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, sewage sludge, genetically modified organisms, or ionizing radiation. Most high-level organic brands have third party certification or pending certification.
  • Organic ingredients create a less toxic environment for us, and the planet. In cosmetic formulations, chemical preservatives, petrochemicals, synthetic colors and fragrances are eliminated in favor of healthy, natural, effective alternatives.
  • Organic cultivation sustains diversity and biodiversity - chemical toxins and environmental harm are radically reduced. This kind of farming supports sustainable, ecologically sound agricultural practices that restore, renew and foster growth.
  • Organic ingredient manufacturers on the whole support global fair-trade practices, ensuring minimum wages and acceptable working conditions. They engage in socially and environmentally responsible business & manufacturing processes.
  • Organic has been proven to use less energy (on average, about 30 percent less), and is beneficial to soil, water and local habitat, not to mention safer for the people who harvest the crops.
  • CERTIFIED ORGANIC:
  • Certified Organic ingredients are never tested on animals.
  • Every aspect of an organic product is assessed according to a strict set of regulations and guidelines. Cultivation, harvesting, manufacturing and product formulations must meet the criteria determined by the certification body to be deemed certified organic.
  • Certified organic means a company must be socially and environmentally responsible.
  • Certified organic means that every stage in the lifecycle of a product has been carefully considered, keeping the big picture in mind. In other words, it encompasses a holistic approach. One action or one decision affects another so it becomes critical to look at any potential repercussions toward the earth, customers, animals and our communities.

WHAT IS BIODYNAMIC?
To understand BIODYNAMIC, you must first understand ORGANIC & NATURAL.

  • NATURAL: Any substance that is harvested from nature and then isolated and purified by a variety of environmentally sound techniques including: filtration, fermentation, distillation, expressing and other like processes.
  • ORGANIC: A few steps further. Simply stated, this refers to ingredients that are grown without the use of pesticides, synthetic fertilizers, sewage sludge, genetically modified organisms, or ionizing radiation. Most high-level organic brands have third party certification or pending certification.
  • BIODYNAMIC: Often thought of as the ultimate in the organic and natural world. Biodynamic is a holistic, sustainable form of ecologically responsible agriculture that actually predates the organic movement. As in organic agriculture, biodynamic cultivation enriches the soil and yields plants that have not been burdened with synthetic/chemical fertilizers or pesticides, sustaining a healthy ecosystem. The soil the plants are grown in is clean and considered organic. Only biodynamic fertilizers and natural pesticide sprays are used to support abundant life in the soil and maximum plant health. All plants are harvested at peak times during the day to preserve optimum benefits – usually at sunrise and moonrise.
